Coyotes Recall Schlemko and MacLean from San Antonio

Calgary Flames v Phoenix Coyotes

Well we’re almost at the end of another Olympics and the NHL practices start up again today. As there are three players still in Vancouver representing their respective countries at the Olympics, the Coyotes called up defenseman David Schlemko and forward Brett MacLean from the AHL San Antonio Rampage.

It’s unclear if they will see actual game time but they are now up with the team practicing. If Schlemko does see game time with the Coyotes, I’m curious to see if he learned from the poor defensive mistakes that caused him to be sent down in the first place.

Coyotes Ship Boedker and Hoggan back to San Antonio

New York Rangers v Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes just announced that they have re-assigned forwards Mikkel Boedker and Jeff Hoggan back to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL.

This seems like a pretty straight forward transaction as I highly doubt the Coyotes want Hoggan and Boedker just sitting around and doing nothing during the Olympic break.

Perrault to IR, Boedker and Hoggan recalled from San Antonio

Phoenix Coyotes v Los Angeles Kings

Well, it looks like that hit Perrault took against the Oilers was worse than people thought. The Coyotes announced today that Joel Perrault has been placed on IR and will miss approximately 7 to 10 days.

The Coyotes also announced that they have called up Mikkel Boedker and Jeff Hoggan. Hoggan and Boedker have played games this season for the Coyotes (Hoggan played in 4 games and Boedker played in 12 games this season) and will probably be insurance for Doan and Fiddler who are both day to day.

Mikkel Boedker re-assigned back to San Antonio.

Columbus Blue Jackets v Phoenix Coyotes

Well, that was quick. As soon as Joel Perrault was called up to the Coyotes, Mikkel Boedker gets sent back down to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). Makes me wonder if this is part of what GM Don Maloney was talking about the other day (via Todd Walsh of FSN AZ) when he said he was looking within for scoring depth. Either that or there’s an injury. Those are the only two things I can speculate as to why he went down so fast.

Center Joel Perrault recalled from San Antonio

Phoenix Coyotes v Los Angeles Kings

The Phoenix Coyotes announced today that San Antonio Rampage Center Joel Perrault has cleared re-entry waivers and has been called up by the Phoenix Coyotes. This season he has amassed 23 points (11 goals and 12 assists) in 27 games this season with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).

Speculation on this would be that this is a depth move for the Coyotes or that he’s being showcased for a trade. My money is on that this is nothing but a depth move. I haven’t been able to find any AHL solid non-scoring stats by press time as they just aren’t available on most public AHL websites. If he does have faceoff skills this can only help the Coyotes.

The Strange item to note is that with the addition of Perrault, the Coyotes:

1) Have four Centers according to their websites and…
2) Have Six Centers according to the official NHL game stats sheets

Coyotes recall Boedker

The Coyotes just called up Mikkel Boedker up from San Antonio.  That pretty much means that Scottie Upshall is out of the lineup for at least the game against the Rangers Saturday.

Coyotes recall Porter and Hoggan – Place Winnik on injured reserve

Posted by admin On December - 28 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

The Coyotes just announced that they will be without the services of forward Daniel Winnik by placing him on injured reserve. He’s going to be out for at least a couple of weeks and coupled with Vernon Fiddler’s groin injury this will be a challenge for the Coyotes moving forward.

The Coyotes called up two players in the meantime, Kevin Porter and Jeff Hoggan. The 23 year old Porter, who was just sent back to San Antonio just a few days ago by the Coyotes, leads the San Antonio Rampage in points with 10 goals and 14 assists in 24 games this season.

Thirty one year old Jeff Hoggan has tallied 16 points in 31 games with the Rampage and appeared in four games with the Coyotes tallying an assist.

Kevin Porter reassigned back to San Antonio

Posted by admin On December - 24 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Well it looks like Kevin Porter’s trip to the Coyotes was a short lived one as the Coyotes announced today that Porter was sent back to the San Antonio Rampage. Porter was called up as insurance depth for Vernon Fiddler who left the December 19th Anaheim game after his first shift of the second period with an undisclosed injury.
