GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Chris Summers from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

 

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has appeared in 17 games with the Pirates this season, collecting two assists and 24 penalty minutes (PIM). He leads the team with a plus-six rating. Summers has also played in two games with the Coyotes this season.

 

Last season the 23-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, recorded 1-9-10 and 54 penalty minutes in 75 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). He also appeared in two games with the Coyotes in 2009-10, collecting four penalty minutes.

 

Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.
