Q. Did Dave Bolland show he’s more than a defensive-minded center tonight?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: We know Bolland has some offensive touch. He sees plays. You know, great goal basically coming out of the box. Great play to Buff in overtime. Still think he’s effective in a lot of ways. But he’s really picked up his game come the playoffs. You know, kind of the way he was all last year.
We’re very happy and pleased with his contribution and a couple huge plays tonight.
Q. Obviously both teams playing very well. The fact is you’re still up 3-0. How confident are you guys right now?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: Well, we were fortunate tonight. I thought our goalie, you can use any adjective, but the best superlative to describe his performance tonight, great or spectacular was deserving. I think we rode on that, particularly even in overtime.
But he was big. Several key saves. We battled hard. It was a fast-paced game again. The series is being played where both teams are very competitive. I think they got some guys that can make some plays that you have to be respectful for. We want to concentrate and do a better job checking.
Q. Can you break down the winning goal for us.
COACH QUENNEVILLE: We had a little bit of time in their zone, which we were on the receiving end for most of the overtime. Bolland made a nice little play behind the net. Nice little seam pass. Buff, high slot, finished it with a great shot.
I think the quality seemed like it was only at the one end. That was quality coming against us in overtime. It was certainly very fitting with Buff with a great shot.
Q. Patrick Marleau has four goals over the course of two games. What has he been able to do against you guys?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: He’s got some speed. He’s a top player. I think he’s a guy we have to be aware of. Certainly they got several guys offensively that are dangerous and are threats. But certainly his speed and quickness and his shots are all high end. Let’s make an awareness that he’s got a hot stick.
Q. We’ve heard their coach and their players talk about their attitude going into Sunday. What is yours?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: Well, we’ll address that with the group tomorrow certainly. We want to feel like that’s the most important game we’re going to play all year. That’s the incentive and that’s the motivation. We know we have to be better than we were tonight. That’s our approach.
Q. We know you’re not going to go too far ahead. Do you think this team is peaking at the right time?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: We’ve had good stretches throughout the year. I think right now we’ve progressed with a real nice swing on that road trip there. We had some momentum coming here at home. The building was spectacular tonight. Nice to see us get a home win as well.
But momentum is an important thing come playoff time. You want to keep it as long as you can. Let’s be excited about the next game.
Q. You’ve been able to keep this team’s focus. Now one win away from the Stanley Cup finals. How will you keep their focus now at home? Is it another hotel?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: I think we got a pretty good group of veterans that have been through big games and big situations. The experience we brought in from last year’s team, the experience we went through last year is going to help us in situations like that. I think games you got a chance to win a series, our focus has been pretty good throughout these playoffs. Even last year as well.
I just think that, you know, you got a John Madden, Hossa, guys playing in the Olympics, playing for gold medals, I think those experiences are something that can come out at a critical time like we’re in now.
Q. Going into last year’s playoffs you wouldn’t think that Buff would emerge as a post-season star. Now two years in a row. What is it about him you think is doing this for him?
COACH QUENNEVILLE: Well, Buff, he’s moving well. He’s got some speed behind his game. I think he’s got some quickness, that consistency of his game that we’re looking to him improving upon. This year was kind of representative of last year, regular season. This year’s playoffs have taken off where last year’s playoffs were. I think that line has been very productive and effective in a lot of ways.
I think he definitely complements Toews and Kane at the net with his size. I think everybody brings a little bit something different to the table. I think that line has been a big factor in the series. Buff, we like the way things are going with him.
Q. Can you talk about the PK again. Six chances for them, you only had two power-plays. You had to work overtime on the PK tonight.
COACH QUENNEVILLE: Three in the third and were all big. Got through a couple of big saves, some loose pucks hanging around, in dangerous situations. We either got to them or the save was there made by Antti, who was large, especially in the PK situation for us. Our PK has been pretty effective all year. We didn’t have some of our guys killing penalties in the box tonight. I think we got through it a couple times and were fortunate.

Q. Describe your emotions right now. One game to go here. Excited?
JONATHAN TOEWS: Very excited. You know, it was exactly the type of game we wanted to play in front of our crowd. We kept it simple.
. Obviously got in a little bit of penalty trouble. We need to be smarter about that. We stuck with it. Unfortunately we had to give up that second goal there late in the third. I think we knew in our hearts, amongst each other, someone was going to pull through and we were going to find a way to win that game.
I think we understood how important it was to them. But we wanted to treat that as a Game 7 for ourselves as well. Really distance ourselves in this series.
Q. I know you still have to play. You’re up 3-0. Do you get the sense now that your team just simply can’t be stopped?
JONATHAN TOEWS: No. I mean, you’re not going to get too high on yourself or too full of yourself like that. You got to do the right things and play the right way if you’re going to have success. We’ve done that.
There’s nothing about us that says we’re unbeatable. As soon as we get away from playing our game, you know, we’re a mediocre, average team. We got to go out there, work hard, stick to our guns, stick to how we learned to play this year. That way we’re going to be tough to beat.
Q. Patrick, you’ve talked about your dreams as a hockey player. One game away from the Stanley Cup finals. What does that feel like?
PATRICK KANE: Yeah, it’s practically cool. I think tonight was a huge win, especially after they tied it up. Seemed like they had some momentum there in overtime.
Big goal by Buff. It’s pretty exciting right now. I think the crowd was awesome tonight. You know, hopefully it’s like that Sunday, too.
It’s pretty exciting. It’s an exciting time of year. I think everyone is looking forward to see what we can do next game. Obviously want to close it out here at home.
Q. Can you both talk about Buff.
JONATHAN TOEWS: He’s keeping his game simple. You know, he’s getting open. He’s working hard in the corners. He’s going to the net. When you do that, he’s got a great shot, a great set of hands, you’re going to get chances playing with some good players.
Bolland made a great play at the end and Buff was in the right spot. He seems to find the open space lately. That’s why he’s scoring goals. He’s going to the tough areas. Great shot by him. Just had to put it on the net.
It’s nice to see him get another big one for us. He’s on a heck of a tear. He’s playing very confident. But, you know, he’s not making it out to be anything more than that. We’re expecting he’s going to keep it up.
Q. Patrick, last year you would say it could be a special year. This year you haven’t said that. What’s the approach to game to game and not looking too far ahead now that you’re a win away from the Stanley Cup finals?
PATRICK KANE: I think probably the biggest thing would be expectations, expectations from who we have in that dressing room, our teammates, ourselves, the organization, the fans, the people in the City of Chicago. It seems like those expectations from the beginning of the year, everyone expected us to get to this point.
We did ourselves, too.
I think last year, it was almost like we were in the situation where, you know, we felt good to be there, it was exciting. It was almost like it wasn’t supposed to happen for such a young team. Everyone was making us out to be such a young team. I think this area we gained some experience from what we had last year. You know, we’ve been on a pretty good roll.
We don’t want it to end soon, that’s for sure.
Q. Can you talk about Jonathan’s consecutive game-scoring streak, how impressive it is to you?
PATRICK KANE: He’s been on fire. Couple really good plays tonight that helped us out with our first two goals. I think it’s pretty exciting to see him playing like this, especially in playoff time. It just seems like he’s a big-game performer. Kind of sick of pumping his tires to you guys. But you guys keep asking me the questions, I’ll keep doing it (smiling).
Q. Jonathan, you said you played the way you wanted to in front of the home crowd. Did you feel like you survived a little bit in the third?
JONATHAN TOEWS: Well, we know we’re going to have to battle through some tough times against this team. The series shows it’s 3-0. We didn’t get here to this point for nothing. We worked hard.
Even in our own building, I think they understood how important this game was and they were going to lay it all out there. Both teams played like it was already Game 7 tonight. So we definitely had to battle some adversity to get to this point in the series. Didn’t just cruise to three victories in a row.
So we’ll keep battling through those tough moments. They’re a team that’s going to throw a lot at you. I think we play the most consistent we have so far throughout the playoffs in this series. You know, even though you’re playing good hockey, there’s still going to be moments where they’re going to come at you and you’re going to have to survive some tough shifts in your own zone.
Q. Are you going to have to sell your condos and move to a hotel?
JONATHAN TOEWS: Looks like it.
Q. Does it help focus you at all?
JONATHAN TOEWS: You know, not really. I mean, I don’t think we’re superstitious as a group or anything like that. Definitely the more time we spend together, the more we’re focused on our job collectively as a team. We’re not bailing out on each other. We’re sticking together. As tough as it’s going to get, we’re playing for the guy next to you.
You know, when you’re in the hotel or you’re spending more time together on the bus, we’re not getting away from that. We’re not thinking about other things that may be going on away from the rink.
It’s been good for our focus. Regardless, we want to come to the rink with that same attitude no matter what situation we’re in.
Q. You broke Stanley Mikita’s record one day after his birthday. Tell us about your feeling about the streak.
JONATHAN TOEWS: I said it before. You know, if it was something that happened during the regular season, I would be willing to comment on it, talk about it a little bit more. But I think it’s a good feeling to be in company of a great player and a great person like Stan Mikita. Especially when it’s in the post-season, when these games matter the most.
It’s a cool thing. You got to give as much credit as you can to your teammates and your team. I just tried to show up and play as good as I can every single game. Kind of have a lot of things go right for you to accomplish something like that. It’s just a small thing that’s nice to enjoy. But we’re inching closer as a team to where we want to be.

Q. Talk about the winning goal, how you did it.
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: It was just a good forecheck that we got on. The puck came up high, went back down. With good coverage, I was the third guy high, which I was, you know, Bolland made a good play and just laid it out in the slot. All I had to do was finish.
Q. What is it about you and big goals?
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: I don’t know (smiling). It’s nice to have, though.
Q. Can you just talk about what the exhilaration, the personal feeling is of scoring a goal like that in a huge game like this, having the fans applaud you, then your teammates shower you with whatever?
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: It’s great (laughter). You know, it’s something that I’ll definitely remember, I’m guessing. You know, with good, hard work, it always seems to pay off in the end.
You know, it’s something that — it’s nice.
Q. I think this is your 11th post-season goal in the first two years, but the first one at home. Did you feel like not only you proved that you can score at home, doesn’t have to be on the road, that you guys got back on track at home collectively as a group?
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: We got away from the game plan a little bit in the games during the game. We got back on track. We stuck with our game plan. It’s a big thing in playoffs here. With big goals, you know, it goes with the team’s hard work.
Q. Have you ever felt as confident in your NHL career as you feel right now?
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: Uhm, I’m going to have to say no. I am really confident right now. You know, playing with Kane and Toews, they make it a little easier, too.
Q. You’re up 3-0. Great position to be in. Nonetheless, it’s already happened once in the playoffs, somebody came back from that. Will that help keep you focused as you hope to close this out Sunday?
DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN: I definitely think so. I think for the most part our team’s staying focused, not letting games with the wins getting in their head, it’s going to be easy. With San Jose, they’re such a good team, we definitely can’t, you know, let off at all. We got to keep going right to the final buzzer.
