NHL News for the week – NHL Goal of the year?
Here’s your NHL News for the week. First off you all have to see this simply amazing goal by Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks during their curb stomping of the Calgary Flames this past Saturday night.
Three Stars for the week
The NHL just announced the three stars for the week ending April 11th, 2010 they are:
First Star – Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins
Second Star – Eric Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes
Third Star – Nicklas Backstrom – Washington Capitals
2010 NHL Entry Draft Lottery
Just a reminder that the NHL Draft Lottery will take place on April 13th at 5 PM Arizona Time. This 30 minute show can be seen on Versus and will be streamed live on NHL.com.

Minnesota Wild to host 2011 NHL Entry Draft
The NHL Announced that the 2011 NHL Entry Draft will take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Minnesota on June 24th and June 25th 2011.
“The Draft is a signature event, and, as our League gets younger and younger, it offers a preview of the NHL’s future,” said Gary Bettman, NHL Commissioner. “The great fans in Minnesota will get a first-hand view of tomorrow’s stars.”
Three NHL Trophies awarded at the conclusion of the regular season
Now that the season is over with, the final stats have been tallied and three NHL Trophies have been awarded. They are the Art Ross Trophy (NHL Scoring Champion), Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard Trophy (Most goals in the regular season), and the Jennings Trophy (lowest Goals Against Average in the NHL).
The following players will be honored at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas in June:
Daniel Sedin – Vancouver Canucks – Art Ross Trophy – Sedin ended his regular season with a league leading and Team Record 112 Points (29 goals and 83 Assists….one of them is at the top of this post)
Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay Lightning) – Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard Trophy – Both players ended their regular seasons tied at 51 goal apiece.
Martin Brodeur – New Jersey Devils – Jennings Trophy – Brodeur wins his fifth career Jennings trophy for the lowest Goals Against Average in the league.
