Chicago Blackhawks v Phoenix Coyotes

The NHL announced Thursday Morning that Coyotes forward Lee Stempniak was named the ‘First Star’ for the month of March. Since acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline he has the most goals in the NHL with 13 in 14 games.

Nicknamed ‘The Ninja’ by Coyotes fans, he has quickly become a favorite of the Coyote faithful for his hard work and mad skills with the puck. He has been one of the many reasons why the Coyotes are even more of a force than before on the ice.

Coyotes fans have got to give General Manager Don Maloney some kudos as well for acquiring him at the deadline.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings and Forward Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks were names the Second and Third Star of the Month, respectively.

For those of you who aren’t Coyotes fans, here’s why he was named the first star….
