Coyotes 6 – Oilers 1 – Oilers hang Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers out to dry….
….which means that the Coyotes had a feeding frenzy against the Oilers en route to a 6-1 victory.
As you know we don’t do the normal canned post-game reports that you would see in your average newspaper. We break down the game to show you how the Coyotes win or lose games. Sometimes there’s tons of reasons that the Coyotes lost or won a game. Sometimes, in games like these, there’s only one reason why teams won or lost games:
The Oilers were horrible across the board.
Take a look at Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert (#77) on the Coyotes second goal of the night in the video below. This goal summed up the type of ineptitude that the Oilers displayed against the Coyotes. It also summed up how much the Coyotes not only jumped on Oilers mistakes but made them pay for said mistakes on the scoreboard.
Gilbert was in position in front of Oilers Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers. Watch how he just jumps out of position and follows a man behind the net allowing Shane Doan to set up Matthew Lombardi for a gift wrapped goal.
At times it was hard to tell if the Oilers players didn’t study the game tape on the Coyotes, the Coaches didn’t prep the Oilers players correctly, or if the players aren’t using their heads, or even if the Oilers players just don’t care anymore after losing so many games this season. I mean they’re pretty much mathematically eliminated from the playoffs at this point in the season.
