Why the Coyotes/Stars game was blacked out on NHL Center Ice
Ok a lot of you were wondering why last night’s Dallas Stars/Phoenix Coyotes game was not available on Center Ice. I e-mailed a representative at the NHL front office following the game and received an answer for all of you who were wondering why you couldn’t watch the game live.
Basically, Fox Sports Arizona had exclusive broadcast rights for the Stars/Coyotes game, even though the game was on tape delay. NHL Center Ice did not have the permission to show the game live due to Fox Sports Arizona’s exclusive broadcast rights. In addition, since the tape delayed games were added after the season began, Fox Sports Arizona could/can not move the programming they already had in place.
Here’s the rest of the Coyotes tape delayed games for the regular season:
Feb. 10: Coyotes at Wild – 10:30 p.m. (FOX Sports North – HD)
March 13: Coyotes at Hurricanes – 8:30 p.m. (FOX Sports South)
*** this was originally scheduled to be televised live
April 7: Predators at Coyotes – 11:00 p.m. (FOX Sports South)
Make sure you mark them on your calendars!
