The Coyotes and Sharks battled again for the third time this month and for the second time in four days. It was another close battle between both teams. However, both teams this time around didn’t bring their ‘A’ game. The Sharks played a tough match the night before and the Coyotes for whatever reason didn’t bring their ‘A’ games either after the half way point in the second.

The first part of the game was an amazing display of Coyotes forechecking that I have ever seen from the Coyotes (or any other team for that matter). The amazing amounts of forechecking pressure that the Coyotes pressure was so great that the shots on goal differential was 13 shots (Coyotes won shots on goal in the first at 18-5) at the end of the first period.

The Second period opened up with an extremely fluke goal from Kent Huskins that caught everyone off guard, especially Bryzgalov. However, the Coyotes responded immediately on the next shift with a great goal from Upshall off of a feed by Lombardi:

Once the 10 minute period of the second passed the Sharks began a parade into the penalty box that seemed to end the Coyotes dominance on the game. They seemed like they were out of gas for whatever reason. However, the Sharks never took advantage of the change either. As much as the Coyotes may have dominated the shots on goal and play overall, they really never had many quality chances on Thomas Greiss….especially in the Shootout.

All in all, this was a good overall effort for the Coyotes….not one of their best but a good overall effort.

Notes from the game:

- Hanzal and Mueller are starting to click very nicely.
- The Coyotes main weakness in their overall game continues to be their lack of being able to dominate the faceoff circle on a regular basis.
