Well it looks like Kevin Porter’s trip to the Coyotes was a short lived one as the Coyotes announced today that Porter was sent back to the San Antonio Rampage. Porter was called up as insurance depth for Vernon Fiddler who left the December 19th Anaheim game after his first shift of the second period with an undisclosed injury.

The Coyotes put on an impressive display of discipline, smart hockey and dare I say……chemistry in their beating of the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Job. From the opening faceoff the Coyotes took control of the game. However, the Blue Jackets were never really in the game. Even though the Blue Jackets had 36 minutes in penalties, the majority of the goals were scored on even strength.

Side Note:  Just purchased NHL Gamecenter so that I can look back at all the archived games from the past three seasons and finally got a chance to watch this game tonight after David Schlemko was re-assigned back to San Antonio.

The Coyotes have signed defenseman Anders Ericksson who was getting into game shape with the San Antonio Rampage for the past 8 games. To make room, the Coyotes re-assigned David Schlemko back to the San Antonio Rampage.

The Coyotes played the second game of a back to back road schedule in Columbus Thursday night and they continued the pace and the winning ways from the night before in Toronto….with one exception….too many stupid penalties. The two teams battled to the shutout with the Coyotes prevailing on a Robert Lang goal on Blue Jackets Goaltender Mathieu Garon.

Tonight marked the 1000th NHL game Coyotes Captain Shane Doan played in against the Blue Jackets in Columbus.  During the game tonight he was given an announcement over the Blue Jacket’s PA system and an ovation by the crowd.
