Tonight marked the 1000th NHL game Coyotes Captain Shane Doan played in against the Blue Jackets in Columbus.  During the game tonight he was given an announcement over the Blue Jacket’s PA system and an ovation by the crowd.

Fox Sports Arizona, in their broadcast this evening, had numerous highlights from his career, from fellow NHL players such as Jarome Igilna, NBA superstar Steve Nash, as well as an interview with the Coyotes Captain during the intermission.

The most amazing feat is not just the 1000 NHL games he’s played in. No, it’s the fact that they all came with the same franchise. After seeing him this offseason with all the bankruptcy court fiasco and taking a lot of heat from mostly the Canadian media, in the process, he’s been a model that all captains look up to on how to act on and off the ice.

Congrats on 1000 games Shane! We look forward to many more!
