Coyotes 2 – Red Wings 3 – Yeesh….
Wow. I don’t know where to begin with this….
It seemed that when the Coyotes played in Detroit the other night, someone else other than the Coyotes were wearing the uniforms of Coyotes players in their 3-2 loss to the Red Wings.
It wasn’t as if Detroit was really that dominant of a team. The Wings displayed a defensive scheme that is pretty much the tell-tale sign that a coach doesn’t have faith in his team in their defensive zone. Add to that throwing three men down low, again in the Wings defensive zone, on Coyotes players leaving a Coyotes player wide open somewhere on the ice. This usually is at the opposite (to the puck) side point man that is left wide open.
It also didn’t help that the Wings completely and utterly dominated the Coyotes in the faceoff circle. Can’t really win many games when the opposing team wins 72% of the faceoffs.
The first two goals allowed by the Coyotes were just horrid examples of what happens when the Coyotes don’t play their game and allow the other team to dictated the flow of the game.
The Red Wings, as injured as they were, were an extremely beatable team. I’m at a loss as to why the Coyotes allowed the Wings to lay an asswhoopin’ on them.
The Coyotes seemed to get themselves together and play close to the hockey that they are capable of playing in the third period but it was too little too late.
Well on to Toronto where the once terminally inept defense of the Maple Leafs seemed to finally learn how to play hockey. Either that or they finally realized that some of the teams in the Eastern Conference are so bad that they won’t get the title of worst team in the NHL this year.
