This Saturday, July 18th, marks the Arizona Premiere of “Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” for two shows at Space 55 in downtown Phoenix (636 E. Pierce St). This premiere is also a benefit for the Coyotes Booster Club and their effort to purchase Coyotes tickets for disadvantaged youth.

Showtimes are at 7 and 8 PM and is sure to sell out as Space 55 is a VERY small venue. Admission is $5 for children and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased via the link below.

This movie centers around Indiana’s rise in the WHA as a hockey team and chronicles Gretzky’s first moments as a professional hockey player. The Toronto Star calls “Gretzky, Indy & The WHA”, ‘a hockey history freak’s dream’. From the looks of the trailer and what is in store for fans, this showing is going to be a special treat for all hockey fans.

According to the Director the movie should be of interest to all hockey fans in Phoenix:

“The parallels of what Wayne Gretzky and Indianapolis went through in 1978 and what the Phoenix Coyotes are battling in 2009 are remarkable,” Gassen says. “But the Coyotes will stay and thrive in Phoenix, and I know their fans will be excited to see the beginnings of the greatest hockey player of all time.”

Following each showing of “Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” will be former WHA players as well as the opportunity to purchase the full “Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” DVD and other goodies.
